More About Me
I’ve gone through many transformations in my life, learning more about healthy eating and living each time. A high school athlete, I gained unwanted weight during university and the first few years as a new teacher due to stress and lack of time. Unhappy with how uncomfortable I felt in my own skin, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 60 lbs in six months. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t eating the healthiest on WW but was successful by cutting down on my overall calorie intake. As I lost the weight I gained the energy and confidence to return to exercise. That year I ran my first 5K race and the rest is history — over the next eight years I competed in road races of all distances, trail races, and triathlons. I ran the Boston Marathon twice and have completed 3 Ironman 70.3s.
My newly active lifestyle benefitted my life in many ways — not only was I healthier, I made new friends through coaching and racing and even met and fell in love with a hot fit guy on FitnessSingles.com. However, everything came to a grinding halt when I became pregnant with my first child. My dreams of staying active and running throughout my pregnancy were shattered by a high-risk pregnancy and doctor-ordered home rest. 19 weeks of inactivity led to more pregnancy weight-gain than I desired and I was scared about losing another 60 lbs all over again. But I did lose 55 lbs in the year after my son was born and regained my most of my former fitness by eating a real, whole-foods based diet and doing effective at-home workouts while my son napped or played in his playpen. While my free time is currently limited (and I much rather take my son to the park than go on a long run) I do hope to get back to competing in road races and triathlons in the future.
My experience with weight-loss and physical set-backs has spurred me to pay it forward and help others looking to regain control of their health. Through innovative online coaching combining 1:1 attention and group support, I help my clients reach their health and fitness goals — whatever they may be.
